If you make the minimum wage — and live in the right place — you could be due for a pay raise this year.

In 22 U.S. states, the minimum wage is increasing in 2025, according to a roundup from Paycor, a company that creates human resources software.

Some of these states are gradually raising their minimum wage over a period of years with the goal of topping out at $15 an hour. Several other states already have a minimum wage that is at or above $15. Washington, D.C., has the highest minimum wage in the nation at $17.50, according to Paycor.

Other states do not have a $15 goal but are hiking their minimum wages nonetheless.

Here are the states that are raising their minimum wages in 2025, Paycor says. Each state is listed with its new minimum wage, followed by the 2024 rate in parentheses.

  1. Alaska: $13, effective July 1, 2025 (up from $11.73)
  2. Arizona: $14.70 (up from $14.35)

Paycor notes that some states have set out to reach a $15 minimum wage. Five states reach that number in 2025. The states that have the $15 benchmark (and the year they plan to achieve that wage) are:

  • Delaware (2025)
  • Illinois (2025)
  • Maryland (2025)
  • New York (2025)
  • Rhode Island (2025)
